Description
Check-up ULTRA
Which infections do we look for in this package?:
- HIV
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
- Syphilis
- Gonorrhea
- Chlamydia
- Mycoplasma genitalium
- Mycoplasma hominis
- Ureaplasma urealyticum
- Ureaplasma parvum
- Trichomonas vaginalis
–
All of these tests are done by the highly sensitive PCR testing technology except for syphilis that has to be a different kind if test.
What are the advantages of this package?:
- Earliest possible detection of multiple infections
- just 2 weeks after a sexual contact you can do this check-up, because we use PCR to search directly for genetic material of the infections
- normally you would have to have waited for months before doing standard antibody tests, so an unpleasant wait is avoided.
- Technology not present in the public health system
- PCR technology is expensive, so getting tested in a private laboratory like my national network is the only way to do tests of this nature
- PCR provides unbeatable detection and this high-level sensitivity translates into solid results
- Peace of mind– if you feel it is a complete check-up that would help you regain peace of mind
- it is, of course, impossible to get infected with all these diseases together, but sometime our brains go into overdrive
- therefore it is normal to want to get results as soon as possible
- this broad-reaching check-up should allow you to leave these concerns behind
The tests are both blood tests and genital samples – why?:
Blood test: to look for the blood-borne infections like HIV, hepatitis and syphilis, that you may have without any symptoms.
Urine or vaginal sample: to look for the sexually transmitted bacteria we see in the genitals, that can also be totally hidden.
Detecting the VIRUSES by PCR:
We apply PCR technology to look for HIV, hepatitisB and hepatitis C.
In the Public Health system, you would have to wait 3 months before getting tested as their tests are based on detecting antibodies.
But the PCR test I offer will look directly for the genetic material of the virus. It allows exquisite detection levels of all three viruses just 2 weeks following a sexual contact. This is the reason why it is the test they use to monitor blood donated for transfusions.
Detecting the BACTERIA by PCR:
We use the same PCR technology to search for sexually transmitted diseases we may have hidden in the genital area, that is to say in….
- the penis
- the urethra
- the vagina
- the cervix
–
There are several infections we see when there has been sexual contact with your genitals (oral, vaginal or anal sex). Some of them are present without symptoms so the patient does not know he/she is infected.
Infecciones detectadas:
- Gonorrhoea
- Chlamydia
- Mycoplasma genitalium
- Mycoplasma hominis
- Ureaplasma urealyticum
- Ureaplasma parvum
- Trichomonas vaginalis
–
Technique used: PCR (nucleic acid amplification test)
- The PCR test is without a doubt the best for detecting these infections
- The machine looks for the bacterial DNA, and if it finds it, it then makes millions of copies to give a positive signal. This is how it can detect even low levels of bacteria.
–
Test peformance & window period: I recommend you wait 14 days after the last sexual contact before doing Check-up ULTRA to achieve optimum detection
